I haven't been paying attention to the threads, just the plays - any chance that the unwanted attention got to him and he's pissed off?

I've seen it happen before - that's why you need to console, not ridicule. Usually (not saying that happened here - as noted, haven't read the threads), people do have SOME amount of pride and after a certain point just leave, or can't take it anymore.

Oh, well - maybe there will be others.
